MOBILITY: LET'S NOT PHONE IT IN!
When was the last time you had a realisation? An unexpected solution (surprisingly brilliant too) to a problem you have been working on for months or years sparkled in your head all of a sudden. You have probably exclaimed out of joy 'A-ha!'
An 'a-ha!' builds over time. You are not going to experience an 'a-ha!' moment instantly. These moments occur with a sudden change of perception-a flash of insight shifts our view instantly. It might come after a week, month, or a year of accumulated experience.
And this is where mobility can be a blessing. And that's why we say mobility, when done right, can give learners a constant 'a-ha!' support, so let's not phone it in!
Leveraging mobility means training interventions are better integrated in learners' everyday life, the presence is readily available to trigger those 'a-ha!' moments. It puts the learners in control of their training requirements, instil great confidence in them and shift their attitude towards training. Learners can finally sum up their experience as "Just in time, just enough, just for me".
Have you had your 'a-ha!' moment yet?

According to LinkedIn's 2017 Workplace Learning Report, "69% of L&D pros say that talent is the No. 1 priority at their companies. With the influx of technology, people today are embracing digital tools to access content that helps them learn on the job and on the go. But organisations are still heavily investing in in-person classroom-style training."
The report further provides statistics on how modern employees engage:
- At the point of need
- In the evenings and weekends
- At their office desk
- When alerted to updates
- On the way to and from work
Today, learners are able to access content on their own terms. The advances in technology have made self-directed, on-demand, mobile learning an expectation now. Online learning has changed the way people learn all over the world and it has become the most preferred option in the fast-paced digital workplace. Mobile phones, as a device, have perfectly aligned with the mobility of the learners accessing the content, this facilitating the increased adoption of online learning.

Have we ever considered learning and education as a 'two-way street'? Probably, no. Take a moment and question yourself: How can I become a better learner? Your training investment would then turn out to be more valuable.
If you haven't got the moment to ask yourself, here are a few ways that can help you to be a better learner:
- Start recognizing your learning method.
- Take an active role.
- Learn from your mistakes.
- Think about the real-world scenarios.
- Watch out for the training process.
- Be organised.
