Converting existing Flash-based eLearning to HTML5 – Upside Learning’s latest eBook explains how

Flash, which has been the most sought after technology for eLearning development, is slowly being replaced with HTML5. This is mainly due to the former’s incapability to run on some mobile devices and latter’s adaptability for multi-device learning. For organisations with heavy investments done in Flash-based eLearning, it could mean redeveloping all eLearning in HTML5.

To assist organisations like these from incurring heavy redevelopment cost and free up their locked investments in Flash-based eLearning, Upside Learning has released a new eBook titled- The why and how of moving eLearning from Flash to HTML5. The eBook, aimed at L&D professionals, can help in making a smooth and cost-effective transition from Flash to HTML5.

Authored by Amit Garg, Co-founder and Director, Upside Learning, ‘The why and how of moving eLearning from Flash to HTML5‘ leverages Amit’s expertise in Custom eLearning and is based on the company’s vast experience in converting desktop-based eLearning to tablet compatible format and knowhow of using different authorin++g tools to generate HTML5 output. The eBook, divided in to 4 main chapters, covers everything from analysis of the need for HTML-based eLearning to the actual process of conversion.

Key takeaways:

  • Why move eLearning from Flash to HTML5?
  • Key steps in moving to HTML5
  • Converting legacy Flash-based eLearning to HTML5

The crack code for Testing Multi-device eLearning is out!

The growing demand for responsive design underlines the importance of testing eLearning courseware across multiple devices, browsers, operating systems, connectivity modes and platforms. However, multi-device testing, with its own set of considerations, issues and challenges, can make it a complex and time- and resource-intensive task.

To help organisations conduct multi-device testing in a reliable and efficient manner, Upside Learning has released its latest, free eBook, titled ‘Multi-device Testing 101’. Based on the company’s vast experience in quality assurance, along with the insights gained from multiple project testing done at their Multi-device Testing Lab, the eBook addresses key challenges, issues and considerations involved in testing responsive eLearning.

Key topics:

  • A Multi-device world
  • A peek at Responsive eLearning design
  • The quirks of Multi-device testing
  • Usability testing

The eBook has been co-authored by highly-experienced quality testing specialists, Anushka Khairajani, Associate Manager – Quality and Geera Bellare, AVP Learning Design of Upside Learning. Anushka and Geera share their experiences of using various simulators, web-based tools, and real ‘physical’ devices for testing multi-device eLearning through this eBook.

‘Flash to HTML Conversion’ – Get it Right with Upside Learning’s Upcoming Webinar

Mobility has moved from the personal computing space to business, impacting the way learning is created and delivered. While Flash continues to remain an important tool for developing desktop-based learning, HTML5, with its ability to play audio, video, 2D/3D graphics, and animation without a plug-in and its capability to work on mobile devices, presents itself as a promising alternative to eLearning development. This brings up the big question – What can be done with the existing Flash-based eLearning?

Upside Learning’s upcoming webinar, titled ‘Flash to HTML conversion – Getting it Right!‘, answers this very question as it helps organisations in converting their existing Flash-based eLearning to HTML. The webinar to be presented by Amit Garg, Co-founder and Director- Custom Learning Solutions, Upside Learning, covers the whole nine yards of ‘why’ HTML-based eLearning is required in today’s day and age, the pre-considerations, some implementation strategies and also the actual Flash to HTML conversion process. The webinar will be held on 2nd December at 09:30 AM IST (03:00 PM AEDT, 08:00 AM GST) and also on 3rd December at 07:30 PM IST (02:00 PM GMT, 09:00 AM EST).
