Upside Learning Focuses On ‘eLearning On iPads’ For Learning Solutions 2013 Conference & Expo

Upside Learning To Present A Free Webinar On ‘The Design Of Interaction For eLearning’

Digital interaction is one of the most important elements in eLearning as it forms the base for an engaging and user-friendly courseware. However, designing meaningful interactions can seem a bit challenging for Instructional Designers (IDs) at times as not all types of content work harmoniously with interactive elements.

To help IDs understand and overcome this challenge, Upside Learning has planned a free webinar titled ‘The Design of Interaction for eLearning’. Scheduled on 4th December at 3.30 PM (GMT) and 5th December at 11.00 AM (IST), the webinar will be presented by Abhijit Kadle, AVP of Learning Design at Upside Learning.

Abhijit is a recognised name in the eLearning ID circles, and has been active in the field of digital learning design for the past 12+ years. Through this webinar he aims to explore various types of content as defined by Dr. David Merrill, a well known instructional effectiveness consultant, and determine which of those content types lend themselves to digital interaction. In addition, a case study involving the design of an interaction for a specific type of content will also be presented along with the do’s and don’ts.

The webinar caters to people practicing instructional design, developers of instructional materials and individuals involved in management of eLearning content development projects. Users can expect to get a thorough understanding on how the design elements co-exist with various content types in different environments and will successfully be able to identify parts of content amenable to interaction.

It is hinged on 6 focus areas or categories, namely Effective Learning, Learning & Performance, Learning Trends, Learning Technology, L&D Capability and Blended Learning. Its contributors include some of the renowned learning and development professionals and thought leaders in Australia and New Zealand ‒ Bob Spence, Peter Davis, Ryan Tracey, Rob Wilkins, Mike Collins and Jeevan Joshi. Learning Cafe also organises the Learning Cafe UnConference and webinars for professional development.

Jeevan Joshi commented, “Learning Café is pleased to be supported by Upside Learning who has encouraged innovation in Learning and the growth of the Learning profession.”

Upside Learning To Help Organisations Design eLearning For iPads Through A Session At Learning Technologies 2013

While designing eLearning for iPads may appear relatively straight forward, given somewhat similar display areas to laptops and PCs, the context in which the iPad will be used, the ever increasing usage on the move and the changing user preferences, makes designing for iPads different and challenging. Further, the dilemma over whether to convert existing eLearning courseware into tablet compatible format or to create fresh courseware adds to the challenge.
Some key topics to be covered in the session include:

  • Key factors to consider for designing fresh, effective eLearning for iPads
  • Simple and cost–effective solutions for ‘mEnabling’ existing eLearning for iPads
  • Few examples showing how Upside Learning’s clients are using eLearning for iPads
