With a huge array of sessions to choose from, including keynote addresses, cafe sessions, panels, case studies and theory presentations, the winner will get a chance to listen to, and interact with, some of the leading thinkers and practitioners in workplace learning, gaining practical guidance for his/her challenges today, as well as insights into the big picture of learning tomorrow.

Upside Learning will be publishing answers to the challenges submitted on their blog (www.upsidelearning.com/blog). Alternatively, participants can also look forward to having their challenges addressed by Amit Garg at Upside Learning’s stand (# 146).

Upside Learning’s Amit Garg and Jeevan Joshi featured in the sixth, annual, top ten e-learning movers and shakers list.

It’s a great start to 2015 for Upside Learning as two of its leadership team members, Amit Garg and Jeevan Joshi, have been recognised amongst the most influential people in the corporate eLearning sector. Now in its sixth year, the top ten e-learning movers and shakers list 2015, features Amit in the 6th position and Jeevan amongst the ‘Bubbling under’ category in the Asia-Pacific list.

These ‘movers and shakers‘ lists are compiled from a corporate online learning perspective, on the basis of a person’s perceived current influence on the online learning industry – as a practitioner, commentator, facilitator and/or thought leader. They have continuously helped to identify key influencers in the online learning industry across the world. The 2015 list that covers various regions – the World, North America, Europe, the UK and Asia-Pacific – contains the names of 38 people.

The judges focusing on the Asia-Pacific sector, said that “talking about ‘typical e-learning’ is no longer good enough. Practitioners are looking for information on innovation, new ways and new technologies in considered, cost-effective, meaningful implementations”.

Amit Garg was listed amongst the top ten eLearning movers and shakers for 2013 and 2014 in the World list, was on top of the Australia-Pacific list for 2013 and 2014, and continues to be amongst the top ten this year.

Upside Learning shares Tips on Designing, Testing and Delivering Multi-device eLearning through an eBook

In line with the growing multi-device usage, Upside Learning proudly presents its first eBook of the year, “Tips for Designing, Testing and Delivering eLearning in a Multi-device World“. Based on Upside Learning’s vast experience and expertise in designing, testing and delivering multi-device eLearning, the eBook reveals tips that will help Instructional Designers, Graphic Designers, Programmers, Quality Analysts and training officers to design, test and choose a responsive LMS.

With the rising number of devices available, people move between devices to accomplish a goal. In learning context, learners now access learning via a number of different devices – desktops/laptops, tablets, phablets and smartphones – starting a course on one device and finishing it on another. This makes it imperative to have the information/learning materials available at the point-of-need or time-of-interest, which makes it more context based. The learning material/courseware hence has to be designed and tested across multiple devices, browsers, manufacturers, models and sizes, operating systems, connectivity modes and platforms. Same applies to the delivery platform which in most cases is a Learning Management System.

But in the wake of the emerging devices, browsers, manufacturers and other parameters and their combinations, a number of challenges pertaining to designing, testing and delivering multi-device eLearning come to the fore.

Upside Learning’s eBook, “Tips for Designing, Testing and Delivering eLearning in a Multi-device World“, covers the whole nine yards of these challenges while revealing tips for designing, testing and delivering eLearning for a contrasting variety of devices.

Key takeaways:

  • The need for multi-device eLearning
  • Pointers on designing multi-device eLearning
  • Tips on multi-device testing
  • Tips for selecting a responsive LMS

The eBook has been co-authored by Upside Learning’s Founders – Amit Gautam, Director – Technology Solutions, and Amit Garg, Director – Custom Learning Solutions. Gautam and Garg have to their credit several eBooks and blog posts, and webinars and learning sessions at various L&D conferences across the world.

The eBook is available for a free download here.

Free eBook: Which Responsive Authoring Tools Will Work for Your eLearning Needs?

Ethan Marcotte talked of Responsive Web Design as far back as 2010. The idea gained widespread acceptance and approval, and by 2012 many websites were going responsive. Not surprisingly, the idea caught on for eLearning as well, because it provided a practical solution for extending reach to different devices.

While many organisations welcomed the opportunity to deliver learning solutions optimised for different learner devices, the extent of custom coding and technical expertise required made this inaccessible for some. In response, it was only natural that a need for responsive authoring tools began to be felt to allow for quicker and simpler development of responsive eLearning courses by non-technical authors.

Some existing authoring tools released upgraded versions that generated responsive output. At the same time, many new tools entered the market catering specifically to that need. Suddenly, there were a lot of choices!

So how does one choose the right tool to fit specific business and learning needs? How should organisations evaluate a tool against their requirements? What factors should be considered?

In an attempt to help with this decision-making process, Upside Learning released a free eBook titled “Which Responsive Authoring Tools Will Work for Your eLearning Needs?” This eBook presents six cases, each illustrating a different business and learning requirement and tool recommendation. It shows how feature-specific information can be interpreted and linked to design requirements to facilitate tool selection and help make informed choices.

Launch of exclusive premieres of the Upside Learning Solutions Showcase

The Upside Learning Showcase is an opportunity for people in the training industry to view samples of what’s latest in eLearning, and discuss possibilities. The best part is, all this happens in an exclusive, confidential one-on-one web conference. If possible, even requests for specific kinds of solutions, technologies or training challenges will be catered to.

The recognition of the need for such a focused conversation came from repeatedly hearing about experiences of training managers who try to balance experimenting with something new or innovative, with getting things done quickly or with limited resources.

Amit Garg, Co-Founder and Director of Upside Learning and an industry thought leader, understands this struggle. As an eLearning veteran, he’s had several such conversations with L&D teams to help them find innovative solutions that actually work for them. He says, “It’s hard to know what’s just gimmicky and what could actually yield significant value for an organisation. That’s why we have curated this collection, keeping in mind the kind of requirements and practical challenges that companies face on a daily basis.”

The samples featured span various instructional approaches, media and interactivity levels, technologies and delivery formats, based on contemporary and newly evolving corporate needs. And what makes it a step better, is that these aren’t just samples from commercial projects, there are even active prototypes from Upside’s own R&D. So you could be seeing things that aren’t yet common enough to be asked for by your competition!

Additionally, requests can be made while booking an appointment for particular areas of interest.
